Remove/install air spring - AR32.22-P-1500GQ

MODEL 166 with CODE 489 (Airmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system ADS))

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by pinching or crushing when working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension Use only approved tensioning devices; additionally screen off hazardous area if necessary. Check special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear protective gloves. AS00.00-Z-0001-01A
NOTES Notes on repair work on suspension components   AH00.00-P-0100-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on AIRmatic   AH32.22-P-1000-02GZ 
1 Detach rear complete wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE AP40.10-P-4050EW
2 Empty AIRmatic using STAR DIAGNOSIS Vehicles with code 489 (AIRmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system ADS))  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS AD00.00-P-2000-04A
NOTES Empty and fill the AIRmatic as per the specifications; the complete wheels must not be touching the ground.
Otherwise the air springs (2) may be predamaged and subsequently malfunction.
3 Detach pressure line (1) from air spring (2) IMPORTANT Seal connections with blind plugs.

TORQUE SPECIFICATION Air suspension pressure line to rear air spring *BA32.22-P-1001-03B 
SPECIAL TOOL Knife Fig 2
SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench bit
Check pressure line (1) and pressure line connections for signs of damage, if necessary:

4 Detach air spring (2) on upper frame from retaining clip (3) NOTES Do not pull air bellows and do not twist air spring (2).
Otherwise the air spring (2) will be damaged.
 
5 Remove air spring (2) upwards IMPORTANT To do so, push air spring (2) out of lower crossmember and push together upwards.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT If baffle (24b) is fitted, check it is correctly seated.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check cover (2a) is correctly seated on air spring (2). Align molding of air spring (2) to notch in lower crossmember (arrow).
 
6 Remove retaining clip (3) IMPORTANT Remove rest of retaining clip (3) from air spring (2) and frame floor assembly.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Fit new retaining clip (3) to frame floor assembly.
 
7 Install in the reverse order
