DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize hydraulic system completely before starting any work on it. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
NOTES Notes on active roll stabilization   AH32.34-P-0001-01A
CLEANING Clean
1 Open engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000GQ
2 Clean cap (1) and surrounding area Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
INSPECT Check
3 Check hose between expansion reservoir (2) and hydraulic pump for tight seating IMPORTANT The hose must not be able to be twisted.
If the hose can be twisted.
Replace hose.

4 Remove cap (1) and check fill level on oil dipstick (1a) IMPORTANT The fill level must be at the MAX marking (appropriate for the temperature) on the oil dipstick (1a).
5 Correct fill level Only when fill level is not level with the MAX marking.
FLUID SPECIFICATION Filling capacity *BF32.34-P-1001-01A
SPECIAL TOOL Funnel Fig 5
6 Start the engine and observe fill level If the fill level drops.
Switch off engine and continue with activity from operation step 5 onwards.
IMPORTANT The fill level must be stable.
If the fill level is stable.
Allow engine to idle.
IMPORTANT Let engine run until the oil in the expansion reservoir (2) is free of bubbles.

  Bleeding
7 Mount pressure pump with pressure hose and adapter to expansion reservoir (2) Only if the hydraulic pump was replaced.
SPECIAL TOOL Pressure pump Fig 2
SPECIAL TOOL Pressure hose Fig 3
SPECIAL TOOL Adapter Fig 4
8 Apply pressure to ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM Only if the hydraulic pump was replaced.
IMPORTANT The pressure buildup serves to bleed a new hydraulic pump.
IMPORTANT Apply 1.5 bar to the system.

9 Start bleed routine for ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory AD00.00-P-2000-04A
NOTES
Stop the engine immediately as soon as the hydraulic pump has drawn in oil, and the pressure displayed on the pressure pump's pressure gauge drops.
The ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM could otherwise be damaged.
NOTES
A sufficient quantity of oil must be present in the expansion reservoir (2) throughout the entire procedure.
Otherwise, the ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM may be damaged.
IMPORTANT Increase the idle speed to 1100 RPM and perform the bleeding routine until bubbles are no longer visible in the expansion reservoir (2).
If lots of bubbles are present in the expansion reservoir (2).
Stop bleed routine and continue with activity from operation step 5 onwards.
10 Run self-diagnosis IMPORTANT If necessary, the bleeding routine is repeated automatically up to 3 times.
INSPECT Check
11 Turn off engine
12 Detach pressure pump and pressure hose from expansion reservoir (2) Only if the hydraulic pump was replaced.
13 Check and correct fill level in expansion reservoir (2) IMPORTANT The fill level must be at the MAX marking (appropriate for the temperature) on the oil dipstick (1a).
14 Seal expansion reservoir (2)
15 Close engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000GQ
16 Detach diagnostic unit
