	Remove/install
	Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts	Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts. Deburr repair panels.	AS00.00-Z-0017-01A
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
1	Move A/T into neutral position and switch off ignition
2	Remove components of exhaust system	Vehicle with spark ignition engine	AR49.10-P-7100GQA
		Vehicle with diesel engine	AR49.10-P-7100GQB
3	Remove heat shields
4	Make color markings indicating installation position of propeller shaft (1) relative to transfer case and differential	Ensure that the components are refitted at their ex-factory installation positions. Drivetrain vibrations can otherwise occur.
5	Make color markings indicating the installation position of propeller shaft intermediate bearing (2) relative to vehicle floor	Ensure that the components are refitted at their ex-factory installation positions. Drivetrain vibrations can otherwise occur.
6	Remove bolts (1a)	Observe tightening procedure.	AR41.10-P-0050-17GZ

7	Remove bolts (1b)	The flex disk (3) remains on the propeller shaft (1).

8	Loosen fitting sleeves of flexible coupling (3)	If necessary
	Drift for loosening fitting sleeves in flex disks.		WF58.50-P-4110-01A
9	Unscrew bolts (1c) and remove propeller shaft (1) downward	Secure propeller shaft (1) against falling. Do not kink the propeller shaft (1). The seal boot on the propeller shaft intermediate bearing (2) will otherwise be damaged.

	Checking
10	Check flexible coupling (3)	Check for cracking, fraying, wear, damage and deformation; replace if necessary.
11	Install in the reverse order
