Remove/install rear axle speed sensor - AR42.30-P-0714GX

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

1 Activate Service mode in Tele-Aid emergency call system IMPORTANT Only for model 463.270 AR82.95-P-0005-03GR
IMPORTANT Notes regarding the Tele-Aid emergency call system Model 463.243/244/245/247/248/250/254/270/309/322/323/332/333 with Tele-Aid car telephone emergency call system, code ET2 AH82.95-P-0001-01GA
2 Disconnect battery ground cable   AR54.10-P-0003G
3 Remove parking brake shoes   AR42.20-P-0530GX 
4 Pull left rear rpm sensor (L6/3) or right rear rpm sensor (L6/4) out of the bushing in the brake carrier (1) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Adjust the distance of the left rear rpm sensor (L6/3) and right rear rpm sensor (L6/4) to the measuring ring (3). Clean bushing in the brake carrier (1) before installing the left rear rpm sensor (L6/3) and right rear rpm sensor (L6/4).
Feeler gauge
*BE42.30-P-1001-01A 
5 Check measuring ring (3) of wheel hub for damage and replace if necessary   AR42.30-P-0160GX 
6 Remove bronze sleeve (2). IMPORTANT Check measuring sleeve (2) for damage and replace if necessary.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  When installing press the measuring sleeve (2) together lightly.
 
7 Remove TV tuner Model 463.243/244/245/247/250/254/ 270/271/309/322/323/332/333 with TV tuner code EM9 model 463.248 except special protection version code 979 AR82.85-P-7366GR
8 Remove CD changer IMPORTANT Only for CD changer, code EP5. AR82.64-P-7508GR
9 Disconnect frame connector (22-pin) (X92/3)    
10 Remove electrical line of left rear rpm sensor (L6/3) and right rear rpm sensor (L6/4) from the frame connector (22-pin) (X92/3) IMPORTANT Remove pins 19, 20, 21, 22.  
11 Disconnect all connectors on the wiring harness (4)    
12 Remove left rear wheel lining    
13 Guide wiring harness (4) outwards through the opening on the vehicle floor (5)    
14 Detach wiring harness (4) from vehicle underfloor    
15 Remove holder of electrical line of right rear right rear rpm sensor (L6/4)    
16 Detach electrical line of left rear rpm sensor (L6/3) and right rear right rear rpm sensor (L6/4) from wiring harness (4)    
17 Install in the reverse order    
18 Deactivate service mode in TELE AID emergency call system IMPORTANT Only on model 463.270 with code: Tele-Aid car phone emergency call system ET2 AR82.95-P-0005-03GR
19 Read out fault memory using STAR DIAGNOSIS and erase faults if necessary IMPORTANT Stored faults which may result from wires being disconnected or from simulation during assembly or testing have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory AD00.00-P-2000-04A
