Check quiescent current consumption - AR54.10-P-1030GX

INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.

1 Activate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (TELE AID) IMPORTANT Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/ 322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid -car telephone emergency call system, 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.04.07 with code (ET2) TeleAid car telephone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR

2 Remove cup holder (A) IMPORTANT Only with front and rear cup holder  
3 Remove battery box cover (B)    
4 Prepare test without quiescent current retention unit Digital multimeter AR54.10-P-1030-02GX

5 Remove CD-ROM from the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3), switch off COMAND operating, display and controller unit IMPORTANT Only with code (ET4) COMAND operating and display system  
6 Switch off all electrical consumers    
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects. Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
7 Check whether heater circulation pump is operating IMPORTANT The heater circulation pump runs on for a short time. Only start the quiescent current after the heater circulation pump has shut off.
8 Remove right cover below instrument panel IMPORTANT Do not separate any electrical connectors. AR68.10-P-1520GM
9 Testing quiescent current IMPORTANT Digital multimeter
If the limit value of the total quiescent current is exceeded: ↓
AR54.10-P-1030-03GX 
Determine circuit with excessive quiescent current consumption. AR54.10-P-1030-04GX

Determine non-fuse protected components with increased quiescent current consumption.

10 To check, re-test quiescent current IMPORTANT Digital multimeter AR54.10-P-1030-03GX 
11 Detach measuring instruments and testing units IMPORTANT The measuring and test equipment which were required for the quiescent current test.  
12 Install all components which were removed to allow quiescent current test to be performed    
13 Connect battery    
14 Deactivate service mode in TELE AID IMPORTANT Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/ 322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid -car telephone emergency call system, 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.04.07 with code (ET2) TeleAid car telephone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR

15 Install right-hand cover under dashboard   AR68.10-P-1520GM
16 Switch on COMAND operating, display and controller unit, insert CD-ROM and switch off again IMPORTANT Only with code (ET4) COMAND operating and display system  
17 Install battery box cover (B)    
18 Install cup holder (A) IMPORTANT Only with front and rear cup holder  
19 Perform basic programming   AR00.19-P-0200P
