DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
1 Remove left and right rear diagonal strut MODEL 212.2

2 Remove exhaust system from flange connection back MODEL 166 with ENGINE 276, 278 AR49.10-P-7100GQA

3 Detach drive shaft (7) from joint flange (41) on rear axle differential (50) MODEL 166 AR41.10-P-0050GQ

4 Unscrew collar nut (40) SPECIAL TOOL Pin wrench Figure
5 Detach joint flange (41). SPECIAL TOOL Puller Fig 5
6 Pry radial shaft sealing ring (42) using suitable tool out of rear axle differential (50) NOTES
Do not damage seat surface of radial shaft sealing ring (42).
Leaks can otherwise occur.		  
INSTALLING Install     
7 Clean seat of radial shaft sealing ring (42) in rear axle differential (50) using clean, lint-free rag and assembly cleaner NOTES
The seat of the radial shaft sealing ring (42) in the rear axle differential (50) must be free of oil and dirt.
Leaks can otherwise occur.
NOTES
Assembly cleaner must not enter the rear axle differential (50).
Otherwise, the rear axle differential (50) may be damaged.		  
Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
8 Check seat of radial shaft sealing ring (42) in rear axle differential (50) for damage If damage is present:
↓
Repair or replace rear axle differential (50).

9 Apply universal hypoid gear oil to sealing lip of new radial shaft sealing ring (42)    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7)   Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7). MB 235.7/235.74 FE hypoid gear oil A 001 989 33 03/Mobilube FE/FE Plus 75W-85
10 Press new radial shaft sealing ring (42) using drift into rear axle differential (50) SPECIAL TOOL Drift Fig 3

11 Mount joint flange (41)    
12 Tighten collar nut (40) TORQUE SPECIFICATION
