Notes on calculating tightening torque when using insertion tool with various effective lengths. - AH00.00-P-0015-01CW

MODEL ALL

IMPORTANT The working length of the insertion tool (2) plugged onto the torque wrench (1) changes the leverage of the torque wrench (1). This in turn alters the actual tightening torque. Therefore the tightening torque to be set has to be calculated as a function of the working length of the insertion tool (2) and the specified tightening torque.

The following formula is used to calculate the torque to be set.

b Effective length of torque wrench

c Internal caliper of adjusting tool

d Internal caliper of insertion tool

MDE torque to be set

MDE = (MDV*(b+c))/(b+d)
