Prepare C-pillar for installation - AR63.20-P-0500-02ES

  1. Cut out spot welds on inner C-pillar (1) from inside (area C).
  2. Scribe separating point on inner D-pillar (area A and B).

    IMPORTANT Transfer dimensions from vehicle, in area A for butt welding and in area B provide for overlap of approx. 20 mm with regard to vehicle cutout.

  3. Cut inner C-pillar (1) at separating points (area A and B).
  4. Remove section (2).

  6. Grind mating surfaces on inner C-pillar (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  7. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES To prevent adhesion problems, do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (area O).

  9. Scribe separating point at outer C-pillar and cut (area P).

    IMPORTANT Transfer dimensions from vehicle.

  10. Remove section of outer C-pillar.
  11. Grind mating surfaces on outer C-pillar down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  12. Coat insides of spot welding flange on outer C-pillar with zinc dust paint.
