REMOVING Remove     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Move front passenger seat toward rear    
2 Remove glove compartment    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR68.10-P-1400EL
3 Remove radio (A2)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR82.60-P-7502EW 
4 Remove Audio/COMAND display (A408)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR82.60-P-7722EL 
5 Remove instrument cluster cover (11) from instrument cluster (A1)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR54.30-P-6015EL
6 Remove front center console    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR68.20-P-2000EL
7.1 Remove center console cover (12) and wiring harness with Media Interface electrical connector (X18/70) With CODE 518 (Media Interface)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR68.20-P-2150ELA
IMPORTANT The wiring harness with the electrical Media Interface connector (X18/70) is no longer required.
7.2 Remove center console cover (12) and AUX connection electrical connector Except CODE 518 (Media Interface)  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR68.20-P-2150ELA
IMPORTANT The AUX connection electrical connector is at the same location as the Media Interface electrical connector (X18/70).
The AUX connection electrical connector is no longer required.
INSTALLING Install     
8 Retrofit Universal Media Interface adapter wiring harness   AZ82.85-P-0004-02EL
SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Figure
9 Retrofit low voltage differential signal (LVDS) wiring harness   AZ82.85-P-0004-03EL
10 Retrofit GPS antenna (retrofit) (A2/23)   AZ82.61-P-0003-02EL
11 Install instrument cluster cover (11) for instrument cluster (A1)

12 Install Audio/COMAND display (A40/8)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR82.60-P-7722EL 
13 Retrofit Universal Media Interface connecting cable (2)   AZ82.85-P-0004-05EL
14 Install center console cover (12)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR68.20-P-2150ELA
15 Install front center console    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR68.20-P-2000EL
IMPORTANT When doing so, the Universal Media Interface connecting cable (2) must be placed in the front passenger footwell. It is connected at a later stage to the Universal Media Interface control unit (1).
16 Install radio (A2)    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR AR82.60-P-7502EW 
NOTES When installing the radio (A2), make sure that the wiring harnesses located in the radio recess are not pinched.
A short circuit can otherwise occur.
17 Retrofit Universal Media Interface control unit (1)   AZ82.85-P-0004-04EL
18 Install remaining parts    
19 Enter special equipment in on-line vehicle data card via vehicle documentation system (VeDoc) IMPORTANT
  • Log in navigation by entering 3-digit code "56o" in instrument cluster.

Ensure here that the third digit is the letter "o" for Oscar.
Delete: 
  • Code 518 (Media interface) (if installed)
 
20 Document retrofitted equipment through VeDoc IMPORTANT Attach note "Universal Media Interface retrofitted as per AZ82.85-P-0004EL " under field organization texts to design group 82.  
21 Connect Star Diagnosis and select vehicle via the vehicle identification number (VIN)    
22 Perform variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN)   AZ00.01-P-1001-02A
IMPORTANT Variant coding with XENTRY using the software calibration number (SCN) must be carried out in sequence for the following control unit.
  • "UMI navigation (N125/2)"
23 Start up Universal Media Interface   AZ00.01-P-1001-01A
24 Disconnect Star Diagnosis    
25 Run function check on Universal Media Interface IMPORTANT The AUX connection electrical connector that is installed as standard no longer works. Information on the Universal Media Interface is displayed via the instrument cluster (A1).
