Audio system, general 

The following components are available for control of the audio system:

IMPORTANT As of 1.9.2010 a selectable function (e.g. "Repeat route recommendation") can be activated over the free programming button (A40/9s10), if the button has been accordingly programmed.

The following basic functions can be controlled:

IMPORTANT All displays are shown on the COMAND display (A40/8) (without code (867) SPLITVIEW) or on the SPLITVIEW display (A40/10) (with code (867) SPLITVIEW), which is uniformly referred to below as COMAND display.

IMPORTANT The supplement (with single DVD drive) is used for the following equipment:

The add-on (with DVD changer) is used for the following packages:

IMPORTANT The entries "Active source for rear passenger compartment" and "Rear off" are only active for model 221 with code (864) Rear entertainment system and can be selected.

"RADIO" basic function 

The "RADIO" basic function can be called up by pressing the "DISC/RADIO" function key. When pressed more than once, it switches between the frequency bands listed below.

When the "RADIO" basic function is called, the corresponding basic mask appears.

The following information is shown on the COMAND display:

The following audio sources can be selected in the application bar:

In the function bar, the following submenus can be called and various settings made:

IMPORTANT With "Frequency fix" (for FM) or "Station fix" (for Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB)) a tuned station is fixed. If reception is poor, the radio does not switch to an alternative frequency or FM source.

)"DISC" basic function 

The "DISC" basic function can be called up by pressing the "DISC/RADIO" function key.

The corresponding basic mask appears. The following information appears on the COMAND display (readable data carrier inserted):

IMPORTANT The various menu structures are made visible on the function bar depending on the audio source selected on the application bar.

When an audio CD/DVD is inserted, the following submenus can be called in the function bar and various settings made:

A track in the track list can be selected using the control buttons on the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) or using the front central operating unit. The playback position can be altered by sliding and holding the front central operating unit to the right (forward) or left (back).

When a MP3-CD/DVD is inserted, the following submenus can be called in the function bar and various settings made:

When a memory card is inserted, the following submenus can be called in the function bar and various settings made:

If the "Music Register" data source is selected, the function bar can be used to call up the following submenus and enable various settings to be made:

When "Media interface" is selected as the data source, the following submenus can be selected in the function bar and various settings made.

"iPod" connected:

Universal Serial Bus (USB) stick connected:

If the "Rear" data source is selected, the function bar can be used to call up the following submenus and enable various settings to be made:

If the "Aux" data source is selected, the function bar can be used to call up the following submenus and enable various settings to be made:

When the "Video" menu is selected in the application bar, the following basic mask appears and the last video application active is started.

The following video application can be selected:

IMPORTANT The TV combination tuner (analog/digital) (A90/1) is designed for the reception of analog terrestrial TV stations of all standards and digital TV stations according to the DVB-T standard. If reception deteriorates, it switches automatically to alternative stations that have a better reception or to digital or analog broadcasts with the same program content, as soon as an appropriate station is available.

In TV mode, the following submenus in the function bar can be called up and various settings made:

"NAVI" basic function (without code (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation)) 

The "NAVI" basic function is called up by pressing the "TEL/NAVI" function key. The corresponding basic mask appears. The following information is shown on the COMAND display:

The application bar and function bar are displayed only when the full-screen mode of the COMAND display is switched off. This can be activated using the front central operating unit.

)"TEL" basic function 

The "TEL" basic function can be called up by pressing the "TEL/NAVI" function key and allows operation of the vehicle telephone system. When the "TEL" basic function is called, the corresponding basic mask appears.

IMPORTANT For telephones with Bluetooth interface that use the Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP), the phone book and call lists are automatically copied to the COMAND controller unit.

IMPORTANT The address book is not a temporary creation. The entries remain stored in the COMAND controller unit when the mobile phone is removed and can still be dialed.

A telephone connection can be completed as follows:

IMPORTANT Incoming calls are signaled audibly as well as visually in the instrument cluster (A1) and in the COMAND display.

"SYS" basic function 

The "SYS" basic function is called up using the application bar. The corresponding basic mask appears. The following information is shown on the COMAND display:
