NOTES For radial shaft sealing ring (7) with race (7a), do not remove the race (7a) from the radial shaft sealing ring (7). Only install race (7a) together with the radial shaft sealing ring (7) in the front wheel hub (5). If the race (7a) is retrofitted into the radial shaft sealing ring (7), proper sealing cannot be guaranteed.

NOTES Metal tools should not be used on the radial shaft sealing ring (7) because the pulse ring for the left front axle rpm sensor and the right front axle rpm sensor (model 172, 204, 207, 212, 218) or the left front axle rpm sensor and right front axle rpm sensor (model 216, 221) is integrated into it. The rubberized side SPECIAL TOOL of the insertion tool part 01 must therefore face the radial shaft sealing ring (7).

If the radial shaft sealing ring (7) is not flush-fitted into the front wheel hub (5), the left front axle rpm sensor or the right front axle rpm sensor (model 172, 204, 207, 212, 218) or the left front axle rpm sensor or the right front axle rpm sensor (model 216, 221) will not send a signal.

  1. Clamp front wheel hub (5) in vise.
  2. Pry old radial shaft sealing ring (7) out of front wheel hub (5) using screwdriver.

NOTES Do not damage the snug fit of the radial shaft sealing ring (7) otherwise the front wheel hub (5) must be replaced.

  3. Clean alignment seat of radial shaft sealing ring (7) in front wheel hub (5)!
  4. Pull radial shaft sealing ring (7) using SPECIAL TOOL insertion tool part 01 (01) and SPECIAL TOOL insertion tool part 02 (02) until they are flush-fitted in the front wheel hub (5).

IMPORTANT For radial shaft sealing ring (7) with race, the SPECIAL TOOL insertion tool part 01 (01) and SPECIAL TOOL insertion tool part 02 (02) must be turned around. The rubber ring (a) is to be fitted between SPECIAL TOOL the insertion tool, part 01 (01) and the radial shaft sealing ring (7).

  5. Detach given race (7a) before assembling front wheel hub from steering knuckle (6)

NOTES Do not use mounted race (7a) again, because when mounting the front wheel hub the sealing lip of the radial shaft sealing ring may fold over and sealing can then no longer be guaranteed.

IMPORTANTSPECIAL TOOL Use puller (03) or carefully pry off alternative race (7a).
