Remove inner C-pillar side wall. - AR63.10-P-0700-01SC

  1. Expose spot welds on outer C-pillar (2) and outer rear wheel well (3) and cut out (areas A, B, C and D).

  2. Expose spot welds on outer C-pillar (2) and cut out using BTR Usibor milling cutter (areas A1 and B1 ).
  3. Grind open riveted joint on outer C-pillar (2) (area A2 ).
  4. Bend side wall reinforcement (4) to side, expose spot welds on outer C-pillar (2) and cut out (area E).
  5. Heat outer C-pillar (2) and side wall reinforcement (4) in cross-hatched areas using hot air gun and remove damaged outer C-pillar (2) and side wall reinforcement (4).

    IMPORTANT Observe water drain hose.Cross-hatched areas are foamed and bonded. Damaged foam parts must be removed and replaced.

  6. Unclip water drain hose (6) and fasten outside of working area.
  7. Measure position of cut on outer rear wheel well (3) according to dimension (f) and scribe (area F).

    IMPORTANT Dimension (f) is 20 mm.

  8. Cut along cutting line on outer rear wheel well (3) (F).

    IMPORTANT Observe sheet metal below.

  9. Expose spot welds on inner C-pillar (1) and cut out (area G).
  10. Expose spot welds on inner C-pillar (1) and cut out (area H).
  11. Expose spot welds on outer rear wheel well (3) and cut out (area J).
  12. Heat damping mat on inner C-pillar (1) in cross-hatched area using hot air gun and remove.

  13. Expose spot welds and clinch connections on inner C-pillar (1) and cut out (areas N, O, P, Q and R).

    IMPORTANT Cut out area (P) from inside.

  14. Drill out spot welds in inner C-pillar (1) with dia. 6.0 mm bit (areas K, L and M).

  15. Heat inner C-pillar (1) and outer rear wheel well (3) in cross-hatched areas using hot air gun and remove damaged inner C-pillar (1), strut (5) and outer rear wheel well (3).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

    IMPORTANT For all other operation steps, observe information on pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  16. Remove glue residues using round wire brush (areas S3 , S4 , S5 , T, U and V)

    Remove IMPORTANT glue residues in area S4 from inside.

  17. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal using round wire brush on both sides (areas S1 , S2 , S3 , S5 , S6 , S7 and U).
  18. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal using round wire brush on one side (areas S4 , S8 , T and V).

    Grind IMPORTANT area S4 down to bare metal from inside.

  19. Remove glue residues in cross-hatched areas using stainless round wire brush and grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on one side (areas W and X).
  20. Remove grinding and drill shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
