The gear indicator and transmission mode display is discontinued on vehicles with transmission 711 or 716. Instead of these displays the outside temperature indicator is fitted there.
Location
The instrument cluster is located in the dashboard on the driver-side.
Tasks
- Receive, evaluate and transmit signals via the chassis CAN and interior CAN for the various operating requirements, displays and warning messages
- Actuation of instrument illumination (A1e8) depending on:
- Light sensor (B38/1) (without code (345) rain sensor) or from rain/light sensor (B38/2) (with code (345) rain sensor)
- from brightness sensor
- from brightness control for instrument illumination
- Output of status indications via the:
- Outside temperature indicator
- Digital clock
- Travel distance display
- Gear indicator
- Transmission mode display
- Actuation of indicator lamps and warning lamps
- Output of fault messages in travel distance display
- Output of acoustic warnings
The acoustic signals are generated as follows:
- Actuation of the internal speaker: "Gong" with a frequency of f = 1 Hz
- Actuation of internal warning buzzer (A1h1): Warning tone with a frequency of f = 2, 5 Hz
- Actuation of function check of turn signal lights, acoustic (A1h2): turning signal ticking
- Actuation of the following stepper motors:
- Coolant temperature gauge
- Fuel level indicator
- Tachometer
- Speedometer
