Location 

The Audio/COMAND display is fitted centrally on top of the dashboard.

Task 

The main task of the audio/COMAND display is the uniform presentation of user-relevant navigation/operating/information windows.

Design 

The Audio/COMAND display is a movable (can be swiveled about the horizontal axis) 7"-TFT color screen in the format 16:9 with a resolution of 800 x 480 x 3 (RGB) pixels.

Function 

The display and the menu presentation is generated in the COMAND controller unit (A40/3) and transmitted digitally via a Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) line and shown in the Audio/COMAND display. In addition a short LVDS line adapter which has optimized properties for the movement of the display, exists within the display unit.

CAN signals 

The exchange of control data with the individual components as well as diagnosis takes place via telematics CAN.

Display kinematics 

For the user-optimized view of the Audio/COMAND display (reflection) the display can be tilted electrically about the horizontal axis in 2 stages of 3° each.

If a blockade in the movement direction occurs during the opening or closing of the Audio/COMAND display, the Audio/COMAND display moves back for the first time into its original design position. If the blockade continues the display remains in the blockade position. The same thing happens if both movement directions are blocked.
