Remove/install radio - AR82.60-P-7502CW

MODEL 204.0/2/3 with CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer) with CODE 511 (Audio 50 APS with DVD changer) with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer) with CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio) with CODE 525 (MB Audio 50 APS radio) with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))

IMPORTANT Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Connect Star Diagnosis and perform initial startup of radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) When replacing radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3)  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Transfer buffered basic data onto new radio (A2) or new radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or new COMAND controller unit (A40/3).

3 Ensure that radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) is switched off    
4 Unclip cover (9) with assembly wedge and remove Model 204.9

IMPORTANT The locks (3) are located in the radio recess at the rear of the instrument panel (4).
 
5.2 Remove screws/bolts (11) up to end stop and press down (arrows D) so that lock (12) is opened MODEL 204.0/2 as of model year 2012, model 204.3
NOTES
The lock (12) must be opened completely in the direction of the arrow.
Otherwise radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) will be damaged.
 
6.1 Pull radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) with extraction hooks (7) out of instrument panel (4) until electrical connector (6) is accessible at upper control panel control unit (N72/1) MODEL 204.0/2 up to model year 2011/AEJ 10, MODEL 204.9 with code (220) Parktronic system (PTS) or with code (430) Off-road package or with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package or with code (540) Power roller blind for rear-end window or with code (873) Left and right front seat heaters
IMPORTANTRemoval: SPECIAL TOOL Insert extraction hooks (7) through openings (arrow A), push towards rear and turn so that front hooks point downwards.
The SPECIAL TOOL Extraction hooks (7) must make contact as shown at rear of radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (arrows B).
 
6.2 Pull radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) out of instrument panel (4) until electrical connector (6) at upper control panel control unit (N72/1) is accessible MODEL 204.0/2 as of model year 2012/AEJ 11, MODEL 204.3 with code (220) Parktronic system (PTS) or with code (430) Off-road package or with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package or with code (540) Power roller blind for rear-end window or with code (873) Left and right front seat heaters
NOTESRemoval: 
Do not pull out radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) by the radio faceplate. Otherwise the radio faceplate is damaged.
 
7 Disconnect electrical connector (6) at upper control panel control unit (N72/1) With code (220) Parktronic system (PTS) or with code (430) Off-road package or with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package or with code (540) Power roller blind for rear window or with code (873) Seat heater for left and right front seat)  
8.1 Pull radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) with extraction hooks (7) out of instrument panel (4) until electrical connectors or optical fiber connector are accessible at the rear MODEL 204.0/2 up to model year 2011/AEJ 10, MODEL 204.9 with code (220) Parktronic system (PTS) or with code (430) Off-road package or with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package or with code (540) Power roller blind for rear-end window or with code (873) Left and right front seat heaters
IMPORTANTRemoval: SPECIAL TOOL Insert extraction hooks (7) through openings (arrow A), push towards rear and turn so that front hooks point downwards.
The SPECIAL TOOL Extraction hooks (7) must make contact as shown at rear of radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (arrows B).
 
8.2 Pull radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) out of instrument panel (4) until electrical connectors or optical fiber connector are accessible at the rear MODEL 204.0/2 as of model year 2012/AEJ 11, MODEL 204.3 with code (220) Parktronic system (PTS) or with code (430) Off-road package or with code (483) ADVANCED AGILITY package or with code (540) Power roller blind for rear-end window or with code (873) Left and right front seat heaters
NOTESRemoval: 
Do not pull out radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) by the radio faceplate.
Otherwise the radio faceplate is damaged.
 
9 Disconnect electrical connectors and optical fiber connector at the rear of radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3)    
NOTES Notes on avoiding damage to optical fibers during repair work   AH82.60-P-0001-05AK
10 Remove screws/bolts (arrows C) and remove cover (5) or upper control panel control unit (N72/1) Only when replacing radio (A2) or radio with auto pilot system (A2/56) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3)
NOTES
In model 204.9, ensure that panel (8) is not damaged when removing screws/bolts (arrows C).
Otherwise panel (8) must be replaced.
IMPORTANT Depending on the vehicle equipment, the cover (5) or the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) is installed
 
11 Install in the reverse order
