1	Carry out preconditions and tests for vehicle level measurement		AR40.00-P-0202A
2	Clean measuring points	This prevents any measuring errors.
3	Mount measuring sensor (086a) on cross strut (17) and read off vehicle level on inclinometer (086)	The measurement sensor connecting cable (086b) must face towards the vehicle center. Otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate. Measure vehicle level at • measuring point 1 (left front) and • measuring point 2 (right front) and store measured values. Model 207 with 4MATIC: Mount measuring sensor (086a) roughly in the center of the cross strut (17). Model 172, 207 except 4MATIC: In order to prevent the measuring sensor (086a) on the cross strut (17b) and therefore an erroneous measurement, the measuring sensor (086a) must be mounted between the cast-in humps (arrows) and pressed towards the wheel. The measuring sensor (086a) must contact the outboard humps (arrow).

4	Mount the measuring sensor (086a) on rear axle shaft (65) and read off vehicle level on the inclinometer (086)	The measurement sensor connecting cable (086b) must face towards the vehicle center. Otherwise the measurement will be inaccurate. Measure vehicle level to • measuring point 3 (left rear) and • measuring point 4 (right rear) and measured values.

5	Check the maximum permissible difference in vehicle level between the left and right side of the vehicle	The specified test tolerance applies only when checking the vehicle level but not for calibration. If the vehicle level at the front or rear axle is out of tolerance, the springs and spring- rubber bushing must be checked for signs of wear and damage.
