Remove/install rear suspension valve body - AR32.50-P-0002SX

MODEL 216, 221.0/1 with CODE (487) Active Body Control (ABC)

MODIFICATION NOTES

25.8.05 Mount hydraulic lines on new valve unit added Step 8.1  
Carry out plunger travel calibration, added Step 11.1
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Notes on fitting hydraulic lines and hoses   AH32.50-P-0001-02A
NOTES Before opening the hydraulic system, thoroughly clean the area surrounding the separation point. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system    
IMPORTANT Notes on Active Body Control suspension   AH32.50-P-0001-01N
1 Detach left rear wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels AP40.10-P-4050SX
2 Remove fender liner in the rear left fender    
3 Release pressure in rear axle ABC system   AR32.50-P-0001-01N
4 Separate hydraulic lines (8) using SPECIAL TOOL release tool on quick-release couplings (7) IMPORTANT Observe different cross-sections of the quick-release couplings (7).

NOTES Ensure that no dirt gets into the open quick-release couplings (7) as this can lead to the failure of the ABC system.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that the quick-release fittings (7) latch completely.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The hydraulic lines (8) and quick-release couplings (7) are color coded in relation to each other and must not be mixed up.

5 Detach retaining clamps (6); to do this, press protective rubber (9) slightly to one side    
6 Separate electrical connectors (2) on the valve unit (Y36/2) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The plugs and connections on the valve unit (Y36/2) are color coded and must not be swapped.  
7 Unscrew nuts (1) and remove valve unit (Y36/2) with the complete hydraulic lines (8) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.50-P-1004-01B 
8 Mount hydraulic lines (8) on the new valve unit (Y36/2) When replacing the valve unit (Y36/2)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check sealing rings for damage and replace if necessary. Check support rings for damage and if necessary replace the complete hydraulic line (8).
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.50-P-1002-01B 
9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Fill and bleed ABC system   AR32.50-P-0021SX 
11 Carry out plunger travel calibration using STAR DIAGNOSIS When replacing the valve unit (Y36/2)
