Remove/install spring control arm on front axle - AR33.15-P-0170SXS

MODEL 221.1 with CODE (Z07) Top protection

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
NOTES When working on the front-end assembly, be careful not to scratch, mark or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected    
IMPORTANT Notes on AIRmatic   AH32.22-P-1000-02SX
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components when vehicle is in a ready-to-drive condition.    
1 Completely discharge pressure in suspension strut using STAR DIAGNOSIS    
2 Remove front wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels   AP40.10-P-4050SX
3 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105SXS
4 Unclip electrical lines (1) of front axle damping valve units from cable holders (2, 3)    
5 Detach both retaining brackets (4) from front axle carrier (7)   AR32.20-P-0300SX
6 Secure stabilizer bar (6) to suitable location using cable tie    
7 Undo nut (17b) NOTES Do not twist bolt (17a). When loosening the nut (17b), it is essential to counterhold the bolt (17a), otherwise the lock tabs for camber adjustment in the rubber mount will be sheared off.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Screw on the nut (17b) of the bolt (17a) until it makes contact, but do not yet tighten in order to allow the rubber mount to turn when the vehicle is rocked to settle the suspension. Do not tighten the nut (17b) until the vehicle is in the ready-to-drive condition.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA33.20-P-1005-01M 
8 Unscrew nut (17d) and remove bolt (17c) from spring control arm (17) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1007-04L 
9 Detach spring control arm (17) from steering knuckle (5).   AR33.15-P-0170-01SX
10 Pull bolt (17a) out of front axle carrier (7) and lower spring control arm (17) to remove    
INSPECT Checking     
11 Check rubber bushing in spring control arm (17) for damage. IMPORTANT If necessary: Replace spring control arm (17).  
12 Check rubber boots and ball joints in spring control arm (17) for damage IMPORTANT If necessary: Replace spring control arm (17).  
13 Install in the reverse order    
14 Perform a wheel alignment check
