REMOVING Remove     
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Remove left front seat    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR91.10-P-1000SX
2 Remove rear seat backrest Left  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   except CODE 223 (Rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints) except CODE 224 (Design individual rear seat system) AR91.12-P-1620SY

DANGER Risk of explosion  from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury  through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
3 Disconnect battery ground line

4 Remove trims in trunk    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   except CODE (Z07) Maximum protection
IMPORTANT Except right side coverings.

5 Remove SAM control unit with fuse and relay box in luggage compartment    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.21-P-1258SX 
    IMPORTANT Do not disconnect electrical connections.  
6 Remove COMAND controller unit    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   except code (529) HIGH Class Japan AR82.85-P-1100SX
7 Fold up left floor coverings and open cable ducts of left frame floor assembly    
INSTALLING Install     
8 Retrofit backup camera control unit   AN54.65-P-0030-01SX
9 Retrofit camera   AN54.65-P-0030-02SX
10 Retrofit the backup camera wiring harness   AN54.65-P-0030-03SX
11 Install in the reverse order IMPORTANT Operation steps 7 to 1.  
12 Perform retrofit variant coding    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
    IMPORTANT Using STAR DIAGNOSIS carry out variant coding for activating the backup camera functions.  
13 Calibration of the backup camera    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR54.65-P-0022SX 
14 Add special equipment to the vehicle data card and to the on-line vehicle data card IMPORTANT Enter code 218 Backup camera.
