Remove/install refrigerant compressor - AR83.55-P-5300SX

ENGINES 272 (except 272.974) in MODEL 221/ENGINES 273 in MODEL 216, 221

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Discharge air conditioning system INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Evacuate, refill and check air conditioner for leaks and proper operation. AR83.30-P-1760SX
2 Disconnect air conditioning evacuation, recycling and charging unit for refrigerant R134a    
3 Remove air filter housing   AR09.10-P-1150SX
4 Remove fan shroud   AR20.40-P-6800SX
5 Detach low-pressure line (3) at separation point (arrow) first, then remove from refrigerant compressor (A9). Following this, seal openings of low-pressure line (3) and refrigerant compressor (A9) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Renew sealing ring of low-pressure line (3) and wet with compressor oil.

6 Slacken poly-V belt and remove from belt pulley of refrigerant compressor (A9) IMPORTANT See: ↓  
Remove/install belt drive components AR13.20-P-0001SX
7 Remove front and center engine compartment paneling Model 216,
Model 221 except CODE (Z07) Top protection

8.1 Detach line (5) on front axle carrier (7) On vehicles with code (487) Active Body Control (ABC)  
9 Detach electrical connector from refrigerant compressor (A9)    
10 Detach high pressure line (9) from condenser line terminal and seal openings of high pressure line (9) and condenser line terminal TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA83.30-P-1009-01K 
11 Remove bolts (11), remove refrigerant compressor (A9) forwards and put down on front axle carrier (7) IMPORTANT To protect the belt pulley of the refrigerant compressor (A9), cover the front axle carrier (7) with a rag.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT For vehicles with code (487) Active Body Control (ABC) the bracket (12) is to be positioned such that the poly-V belt runs without any obstruction.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA83.55-P-1001-01M 
12 Detach high pressure line (9) from refrigerant compressor (A9), seal openings of high pressure line (9) and refrigerant compressor (A9) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing rings of high-pressure line (9) and moisten with compressor oil.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA83.30-P-1007-01K 
13 Remove refrigerant compressor (A9) upwards out of the engine compartment    
14 Install in the reverse order    
15 Perform run-in of the refrigerant compressor (A9) IMPORTANT Menu option: Control unit adaptations.  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
