The body of the CLK-Cabriolet (model 208.4) is essentially based on the floor assembly, front end and the rear assembly of the CLK-Coupe (model 208.3) with some additional or modified body panels.

The panel thicknesses in the area of structural parts such as longitudinal members, A and B-pillars are partly larger than for the CLK-Coupe (model 208.3), the consequence here is that in a repair case the welding procedure has to be adapted to meet the general welding method rules (e.g. sufficient welding gap for obtuse abutting parts).

For repairs in this area the vehicles must always be mounted on a DB release straightening system.
