Components of air suspension with level control
- When the system is unpressurized the vehicle level drops significantly. To avoid damage to the vehicle, emergency buffers must be fitted to the suspension before the vehicle is moved.
- Completely vent the air springs (1) before removal. The system has to be vented through a command from the diagnostic equipment (STAR DIAGNOSIS) so that the intake air drier is regenerated. The components or the entire system must not be discharged by unscrewing pressure lines!
- Soiled pressure line connections must be cleaned before unscrewing. Do not use any cleaning agents or solvents, as they can damage the pressure lines. Seal pressure lines and connections on the components using blind plugs.
- Only use flare nut wrenches or special tools to unscrew the pressure lines.
- Removed or slackened off air springs (1) may not be filled with compressed air and they must not be pushed together!
- The folds in the protective boots of the air springs (1) must be formed correctly and must not have any intrusions as the air spring bellows will rub against them while driving and this leads to premature failure of the air springs (1).
- Air springs (1) must not be twisted, as this can lead to wrinkle formation in the air spring bellows and cause irreparable damage to it.
- When filling the air springs (1) observe the proper filling procedure.
- Between the installation of the air springs (1) and their filling, the air springs (1) must not be loaded (no spring motion).
