IMPORTANT The oil grooves (arrows) in the thrust plates of the crankshaft bearing caps (3) and in the thrust plates of the crankcase (4) must point to the thrust collars of the crankshaft (1). Before installing the crankshaft (1), wet the main bearing shells of the crankshaft bearing caps (2) and the main bearing shells of the crankcase (5) with engine oil.

The thrust plates for the crankshaft bearing cap (3) in the crankshaft bearing caps each have a retaining lug as an anti-twist lock. Check anti-twist locks are correctly seated in crankshaft bearing caps.
