DANGER

Potential risks

Risk of explosion

Enriched sanding/grinding dust can lead to dust explosions  in the presence of ignition sources. Sanding/grinding dust can be electrostatically charged when evacuated with evacuation equipment and pose an ignition hazard.

Risk of injury

When performing work on glass fiber reinforced plastics such as cutting, sanding, grinding, etc., glass fiber dust is produced which contains small fine fibers. This dust or fibers irritate the bronchial tubes and possibly the lungs; fibers settling in the lungs  may lead to lung damage  .

Skin irritation

The sharp fibers in carbon fiber dust cause tiny injuries when they penetrate into the surface of the skin  , which can lead to skin irritations - particularly in combination with dirt.
