REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Move front passenger seat (1) into foremost and uppermost position and set backrest to vertical position    
2 Switch off ignition and keep transmitter key at a location beyond transmitter range (at least 2 m)    
3 Remove cover (2)    
4 Remove nut (3) from terminal on battery negative pole, and detach ground line (4) from battery (5) IMPORTANT Ensure that no jumper start device is connected to vehicle.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, battery line to negative terminal/positive terminal

5 Using a diode test lamp, check the on-board electrical system for voltage between the positive line of the battery (5) and the disconnected ground line (4) IMPORTANT If the diode test lamp lights up, the on-board electrical system is still active because of a defect in the electrical system.  
6 Disconnect ground cable from additional battery Only if the diode test lamp lights up.
