Engine sound control unit, component description - GF54.21-P-0019GN
MODEL 292 with CODE B63 (AMG eSound)
Shown on model 292
Location
The engine sound control unit is located under the panel in the driver footwell (left-hand drive vehicle) on the A-pillar.
Tasks
The engine sound control unit simulates engine noise in the vehicle interior through the speaker system, to give the impression of a larger-displacement engine.
The engine sound control unit receives the following signals:
- Control signals (e.g. engine speed, engine load or vehicle speed) over drive train CAN (CAN C) from the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10)
- Analog signals over a direct line from the radio (A2) or COMAND controller unit (A40/3) (except CODE 810 (Sound system) and except CODE 811 (Advanced sound system))
The engine sound control unit sends the following signals for vehicles except CODE 810 (Sound system) and except CODE 811 (Advanced sound system):
- Synthesized sound signals over direct lines to:
- Left front door speaker (H4/1)
- Right front door speaker (H4/2)
- Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
The engine sound control unit sends the following signals for vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system) and or with CODE 811 (Advanced sound system):
- Synthesized sound signals over 4 symmetric lines to the sound system amplifier control unit
The sound system amplifier control unit for vehicles with CODE 810 (Sound system) or with CODE 811 (Advanced sound system) routes the synthesized sound signals forward to the following speakers:
- Rear bass speaker (H4/38)
- Left front door bass speaker (H4/88)
- Right front door bass speaker (H4/89)
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
