G12084374
  1. Clamp brake line in line holding pliers (1) so that the end to be worked on protrudes approx. 50 mm (dimension x).
  2. Clamp step drill bit (2) into a commercially available cordless drill/driver.
  3. Operate cordless drill/driver and press step drill bit (2) on brake line up to contact.

IMPORTANT In this way, the plastic coating in the flaring area is removed.

Clean the step drill bit (2) if soiling is present. Otherwise, the entire insertion depth in the step drill bit (2) is no longer guaranteed for the next step drill procedure.

    G12084375
  4. Insert clamping brackets (7) assigned to the brake line diameter into flanging tool (3).

IMPORTANT The clamping brackets (7) are held magnetically in position in the flanging tool (3).

    G12079091
  5. Close latch (12) in flanging tool.
  6. Insert brake line (10) into the flanging tool with the end to be worked on up to the end stop on the latch (12).
  7. Tighten tensioning screws (9) of clamping plate (8) uniformly in stages. TORQUE SPECIFICATION
  8. Mark position of brake line (10), as shown (arrow A), with a pen relative to the clamping brackets (7).

IMPORTANT In this way, you can see if the brake line (10) is not held correctly in the clamping brackets (7).

  9. Open latch (12).
    G12084377
  10. Insert punch "A" (5) into the punch holder (6) and fix in place with the locking clip (11) in the area of the hexagon.
  11. Clean punch holder (6).
  12. Clean punch "A" (5) in front area (arrow B).
  13. Lubricate punch "A" (5) in front area (arrow B) and the end of the brake line to be worked on with ATE brake cylinder paste.
    G12079093
  14. Screw punch holder (6) with punch "A" (5) into the flanging tool (3) so that the top of punch "A" (5) lightly contacts the brake line (10).
  15. By slowly screwing in the punch holder (6) with the predetermined tightening torque, make the first-stage flange of the brake line (10). TORQUE SPECIFICATION
  16. Remove punch holder (6) from flanging tool (3).
    G12079094
  17. Remove locking clip (11) and take punch "A" out of punch holder (6).
  18. Insert punch "B" (4) into the punch holder (6) and fix in place with the locking clip (11) in the area of the hexagon.
  19. Clean punch holder (6).
  20. Clean punch "B" (4) in front area (arrow C).
  21. Lubricate punch "B" (4) in front area (arrow C) and the end of the brake line to be worked on with ATE brake cylinder paste.
    G12079095
  22. Screw punch holder (6) with punch "B" (4) into the flanging tool (3) so that the top of punch "B" (4) lightly contacts the brake line (10).
  23. By slowly screwing in the punch holder (6) with the predetermined tightening torque, make the second-stage flange of the brake line (10). TORQUE SPECIFICATION
  24. Remove punch holder (6) from flanging tool (3).
  25. Release tensioning screws (9) uniformly until the brake line (10) with the clamping brackets (7) can be taken from the flanging tool (3).
  26. Release clamping brackets (7) from the finished, flanged brake line (10) and remove.
