Move rear axle of vehicle into roller brake test stand.
On the roller brake test stand, apply the parking brake in such a way that the wheels do not lock up by actuating the pedal or hand lever of the parking brake for approx. 2 minutes.
On model 164, 251, the brake break-in procedure must not last longer then ≈ 10 s per axle.

The drivetrain or brake system could be damaged.

During the parking brake break-in procedure, the catch of the pedal or hand lever must not lock in position.
Allow parking brake to cool down while not actuated.
When the parking brake heats up, its braking effect declines. The bedding-in procedure can be repeated when the parking brake has cooled.
Determine brake values, control force and actuating travel for parking brake and document.
Operate parking brake uniformly. The maximum value prior to the wheels locking up is to be documented. The control force and actuating travel on the parking brake are to be documented at maximum value. In the event of brake-fluid fluctuations or a pulsating parking brake, determine the reason and rectify subject to separate repair order.
Evaluate documented brake values.
If the specified minimum requirements and tolerance limits for the brake system scopes to be tested are not complied with, this must be rejected and rectified subject to separate repair order, after a conducted diagnosis and the corresponding findings.
