Perform wheel alignment check - AR40.20-P-0200CW

MODIFICATION NOTES

21.9.08 Sequence of wheel alignment check changed    
MEASURING Measure     
1 Drive the vehicle onto the measuring station and secure using the parking brake IMPORTANT The measuring system must be approved by Mercedes-Benz.  
2 Carry out conditions and tests for chassis alignment   AR40.20-P-0260SX 
3 Using the adapter, install the brake pedal retaining tool between the pedal and the driver seat NOTES
Protect the brake pedal and driver seat from damage.
Otherwise the brake pedal or the front seat may be damaged.

4.1 Place the transmission in neutral Vehicles with manual transmission  
4.2 Move selector lever to position "P" Vehicles with automatic transmission  
5 Open window on driver door and close driver door IMPORTANT Preparations for checking steering lock. The vehicle must not be loaded again.  
6 Switch off ignition    
7 Attach Mercedes-Benz quick-clamping devices   AR40.20-P-0230SX 
8 Fit on measuring heads    
9 Unlock turnplates and sliding platforms    
10 Perform initial measurement    
11 Check vehicle level at front and rear axle using electronic inclinometer and adjust if necessary   AR40.20-P-0301CY 
IMPORTANT Depending on the measurement result the vehicle level must be adjusted at the front and rear axle.
12 Checking rear axle camber   AR40.20-P-0331CW 
IMPORTANT According to results of initial measurement.
IMPORTANT The camber on the rear axle is not adjustable.
13 Adjust rear-axle toe   AR40.20-P-0261CW 
IMPORTANT According to results of initial measurement.
14 Adjust camber and caster at the front axle   AR40.20-P-0263CW 
IMPORTANT According to results of initial measurement.
15 Adjust front axle toe   AR40.20-P-0264CW 
IMPORTANT According to results of initial measurement.
16 Check toe-out angle   AR40.20-P-0325CW 
IMPORTANT According to results of initial measurement.
17 Perform final measurement    
18 Detach measuring heads    
19 Detach Mercedes-Benz quick-clamping devices   AR40.20-P-0230SX 
20 Remove brake pedal jack tool with its adapter SPECIAL TOOL Brake pedal jack Fig 2

21 Drive vehicle off measuring system    
22 Lock turntables and sliding platforms
