Location 

The telematics services communications module on model 204.0 is located behind the seats in the trunk.

The telematics services communications module on model 204.2 and model 204.3 is located in the trunk on the left sidewall behind the cover on a bracket (in vehicles with code (810) Sound system in front of the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).

The telematics services communications module on model 204.9 is located behind the cover on the glove compartment.

Task 

Receiving and transmitting position data 

The telematics services communication module receives position data over a universal serial bus (USB) connection from the COMAND controller unit (A40/3). The telematics services communication module sends the position data over a direct line to the emergency call system antenna (A2/52) (model 204.0/2/3) or over the integrated transmitter/receiver module to the service provider (model 204.9). The telematics services communications module uses the diagnostic CAN (CAN D).

IMPORTANT The position data are needed for the real time traffic data service.

Receiving and forwarding real time traffic data 

The telematics services communications module receives real time traffic data from the emergency call system antenna (model 204.0/2/3) or over the integrated transmitter/receiver module (model 204.9) from the service provider, and forwards them over the USB connection to the COMAND controller unit.
