Speaker output, general
A distinction is made between the following procedures:
- Speaker output in vehicles with code (810) Sound system
- Speaker output in vehicles without code (810) Sound system
- Speaker actuation in the event of voice output

Speaker output in vehicles with code (810) Sound system
The audio signals are routed to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) by the audio unit via Media Oriented System Transport (MOST), where they are amplified and output over the following speakers via direct lines:
- Left front door tweeter (H4/1h1)
- Left front door bass speaker (H4/1h2)
- Right front door tweeter (H4/2h1)
- Right front door bass speaker (H4/2h2)
- Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
- Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
- Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
- Bass speaker (H4/29) (model 204.0/2/3)
- Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
- Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)
On model 204.9 the audio signal for the rear bass speaker (H4/38) runs from the sound system amplifier control unit to the rear bass speaker amplifier (N40/9) and from there via direct lines to the rear bass speaker.
In model 204.0 and model 204.3, the right rear surround speaker is integrated into the bass speaker.
The center instrument panel speaker in vehicles with code (359) TELEAID emergency call system or code (348) Emergency call/assist system and active vehicle-related service is used for voice output and actuated by the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) via direct lines.
Speaker output in vehicles without code (810) Sound system
The audio signals are output over the following speakers by the audio unit using direct lines:
- Left front door tweeter
- Left front door bass speaker
- Right front door tweeter
- Right front door bass speaker
- Left rear door speaker
- Right rear door speaker
Speaker actuation in the event of voice output
Only the front speakers are actuated for voice output for telephone, navigation or the voice control system (VCS).
In vehicles without code (810) Sound system, these are the following speakers:
- Left front door tweeter
- Left front door bass speaker
- Right front door tweeter
- Right front door bass speaker
On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the following speaker is also actuated:
- Center instrument panel speaker
