Manual interior lights control in general

The manual interior lights control permits the interior illumination, reading illumination, vanity mirror illumination as well as the glove compartment illumination to be switched on and off by operating the relevant switch.

A distinction is made between the following variants:

The overhead control panel electronics is supplied with power through the front SAM control unit.

The overhead control panel control unit is a participant on the interior CAN. This reads in the status of the operated switch and transmits it to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN. The front SAM control unit receives the relevant status and transmits the switch-on request via the interior CAN back to the overhead control panel control unit, which then actuates the requested lighting function.

The manual interior lights control function encompasses the following subfunctions:

Function sequence for interior illumination

Without code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof:

The following interior illumination components can be switched on or off manually by operating the switches that are located on the housing of the overhead control panel electronics:

For code (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof:

The following interior illumination components can be switched on or off manually by operating the switches that are located on the housing of the overhead control panel control unit:

Function sequence for reading illumination

The reading lamps illuminate a defined area in front of the user, without having a distracting dazzling effect. The following reading lamp components can be switched on or off manually by operating the switches:

Function sequence for vanity mirror illumination

The following vanity mirror illumination components can be switched on or off manually by opening or closing the relevant mirror cover:

The power supply to the mirror lamp switch is interrupted under the following conditions:

Additional function requirements for glove compartment illumination

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 to the front SAM control unit via interior CAN.

Function sequence for glove compartment illumination

The glove compartment lamp switch is supplied with power via the front SAM control unit. The voltage is switched through to the glove compartment lamp when the glove compartment lid is opened.
