Headlight switch off delay function - GF82.10-P-2011CE

MODEL 204.0/2 as of model year 2009

MODEL 204.3

MODEL 204.9

Function requirements, general

IMPORTANT The instrument cluster sends the status of the "Ambient illumination" function via interior CAN (CAN B) to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). The status of the light sensor or the rain/light sensor is read in by the front SAM control unit via the wiper/inside rearview mirror LIN (LIN 2). The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the exterior lights switch via the instrument panel LIN (LIN 1) (vehicles up to 31.5.10) or directly (vehicles as of 1.6.10).

Headlamp switch-off delay (SWA), general

The SWA is used for leaving and finding the vehicle safely in darkness by switching on the ambient illumination.

The following light functions are activated here:

The SWA function is comprised of the following subfunctions:

IMPORTANT The headlamp switch-off delay and locator lighting functions run in parallel if necessary. An active headlamp switch-off delay (SWA) function is not terminated by a requested AFB function and vice versa.

Function sequence for headlamp switch-off delay (SWA)

The headlamp switch-off delay function is activated after the driver switches off the engine (change in status of circuit 15 On to circuit 15R On) for t = 60 s. The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) sends the status of circuit 15 to the front SAM control unit via interior CAN. The front SAM control unit then activates the standing/parking lights actuation, the rear fog light actuation (except model 204.9 as of 1.6.12) and the front fog light actuation (on vehicles up to 30.11.09 or as of 1.12.09 without code (621) Intelligent Light System (left-hand traffic) and without code (622) Intelligent Light System (right-hand traffic) (except model 204.9 as of 1.6.12)). On model 204.0/2 as of 1.3.11, model 204.3, model 204.9 as of 1.6.12 the front SAM control unit sends the request to switch on the ambient illumination at the same time via interior CAN to the following control units:

The left front door control unit actuates the left outside mirror ambient lamp directly. The right front door control unit actuates the right outside mirror ambient lamp directly.

IMPORTANT The function starts again by opening a vehicle door. The trunk lid (model 204.0/3) or the liftgate (model 204.2/9) is considered a vehicle door. Once all vehicle doors are closed again, the function begins again but is limited to t = 15 s.

The left front door control unit or the right front door control unit sends the status of the respective front door via interior CAN to the front SAM control unit. The status of the rear doors (on model 204.0/2/9) and of the trunk lid or of the liftgate is sent by the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) via interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

IMPORTANT In vehicles up to 31.5.10, briefly switching on circuit 15 after switching off the engine means it is possible to leave the vehicle unnoticed without activating the headlamp switch-off delay (SWA). The active headlamp switch-off delay is immediately terminated by switching on circuit 15 or by triggering an antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) alarm (with code (551) Antitheft alarm system (ATA [EDW])). The rear SAM control unit sends the status of the ATA [EDW] via interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

Function sequence for AFB

When unlocking the vehicle using a radio frequency or infrared, the ambient illumination is switched on for a period of t = 40 s (time for the automatic relocking).

The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of the central locking via interior CAN to the front SAM control unit.

The locator lighting function is interrupted by opening a vehicle door or activating circuit 15C.
