INSPECT Check     
DANGER Risk of fire and explosion  caused by ignition of window washing fluid or antifreeze and their vapors. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing window washing fluid or antifreeze or inhaling their vapors. Risk of injury  or physical irritations caused by contact of window washing fluid or antifreeze with eyes, mucous membranes or skin. Wear protective clothing and tight-fitting safety glasses. No fire, naked flames or ignition sources. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and skin. When working with window washing fluids or antifreeze, do not eat, drink, or smoke. Do not inhale vapors and ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area. Store window washing fluid and antifreeze leakfree in safely closed original containers and out of the reach of children. AS82.35-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. Always remove ignition key when working on windshield wiper mechanism. AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
1 Close engine hood    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR88.40-P-1000RT
2 Close liftgate, doors, sliding roof and side windows    
3 Switch on ignition    
4 Check function of spray nozzles for windshield washer system on windshield and the setting   AP82.35-P-8252-01RT
IMPORTANT The spray jet must hit the windshield in the marked area. If necessary, correct the spray nozzle setting using an SPECIAL TOOL adjusting drift.  
SPECIAL TOOL Adjusting tool
For clogged up spray nozzle:

Clean spray nozzle using suitable needle and/or blow out with compressed air from inside out or replace spray nozzle subject to separate invoice.

IMPORTANT The spray jet must hit the rear window in the marked area. If necessary, correct the spray nozzle setting using an SPECIAL TOOL adjusting drift.  
SPECIAL TOOL Adjusting tool
For spray nozzles that cannot be adjusted and with a deviating spray pattern:

Replace spray nozzle subject to separate repair order.
For clogged up spray nozzle:

Clean spray nozzle using suitable needle and/or blow out with compressed air from inside out or replace spray nozzle subject to separate invoice.

6 Check park position of wiper blades IMPORTANT The wiper blade ends must lie on the markings (arrow C) and may not be offset by more than 10 mm upwards or downwards.
In the event of any deviation to the park position:

Check and adjust wiper arms subject to separate repair order.
 
7 Check setting of wiper arms on windshield NOTES
The wiper blades must not come into contact with the A-pillar or cowl.
The body or wiper mechanism will otherwise be damaged.
IMPORTANT Spray water over the windshield washer system on the windshield and switch on wiper at highest setting.
If there are problems:

Determine and rectify cause, subject to separate repair order.
 
8 Check setting of wiper arm on rear window NOTES
Wiper blade must not make contact with the liftgate.
Otherwise the liftgate or wiper mechanism may be damaged.
IMPORTANT Spray water over the windshield washer system on the rear window and switch on wiper at highest setting.
If there are problems:

Determine and rectify cause, subject to separate repair order.
 
9 Switch on low beam Vehicles with CODE 600 (Headlamp cleaning system) or with CODE 615 (Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination)  
10.1 Repeatedly operate windshield washer system and check headlamp cleaning system spray nozzles for proper operation and setting Vehicles with CODE 600 (Headlamp cleaning system) or with CODE 615 (Bi-xenon headlamp unit with integrated curve illumination)
Vehicles without HCS [SRA] switch (S1s7)
IMPORTANT Repeatedly operate windshield washer system for windshield until the headlamp cleaning system is activated. The spray jet must impact in the light source area on the headlamp lens. Correct setting if necessary.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Adjusting tool
For clogged up spray nozzle:
Clean spray nozzle using suitable needle and/or blow out with compressed air from inside out or replace spray nozzle subject to separate invoice.
For spray nozzles that cannot be adjusted and with a deviating spray pattern:

Replace spray nozzle subject to separate repair order.

IMPORTANT The spray jet must impact in the light source area on the headlamp lens. Correct setting if necessary.

For spray nozzles that cannot be adjusted and with a deviating spray pattern:

12 Switch off ignition    
13 Correct windshield washer system fluid level IMPORTANT Only for service with Plus package. AP82.35-P-8210RT
