DANGER Risk of fire and explosion  caused by ignition of window washing fluid or antifreeze and their vapors. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing window washing fluid or antifreeze or inhaling their vapors. Risk of injury  or physical irritations caused by contact of window washing fluid or antifreeze with eyes, mucous membranes or skin. Wear protective clothing and tight-fitting safety glasses. No fire, naked flames or ignition sources. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and skin. When working with window washing fluids or antifreeze, do not eat, drink, or smoke. Do not inhale vapors and ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area. Store window washing fluid and antifreeze leakfree in safely closed original containers and out of the reach of children. DANGER Risk of injury  . Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of the mechanism when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
INSPECT Check     
1 Switch on ignition and check spray nozzles of windshield washer system on windshield and rear window for proper operation If spray nozzles are blocked:

Clean spray nozzles using suitable needle and/or blow out with compressed air from inside out or replace spray nozzle subject to separate repair order.
 
2 Check setting for spray nozzles on windshield and rear window, and adjust if necessary   AP82.35-P-8252-01AK
NOTES
Only use the regulating drift on the spray nozzle of the rear window.
Otherwise the spray nozzles on the windshield may be damaged by the regulating drift.

3 Check setting for wiper arms on windshield NOTES
The wiper blades must not come into contact with the A-pillar or cowl.
The body or wiper mechanism will otherwise be damaged.
IMPORTANT Spray water over the windshield washer system on the windshield and switch on windshield wiper at the highest setting.
If there are problems:
Determine and rectify cause, subject to separate repair order.
 
4 Check setting of wiper arms on rear window NOTES
Wiper blade must not make contact with the liftgate.
Otherwise the liftgate or wiper mechanism may be damaged.
IMPORTANT Spray water over the windshield washer system on the windshield and switch on windshield wiper at the highest setting.
If there are problems:

Determine and rectify cause, subject to separate repair order.
 
5.1 Press HCS [SRA] switch (S1s1) and check spray nozzles for headlamp cleaning system for proper operation For model 169, 245 with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system
If spray nozzles are blocked:

Clean spray nozzles using suitable needle and/or blow out with compressed air from inside out or replace spray nozzle subject to separate repair order.
 
5.2 Activate windshield washer system with engine running and with low beams switched on, and check the headlamp cleaning system spray nozzles for proper operation For model 117, 156, 176 with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system
IMPORTANT After operating the windshield washer system 5 times in succession the headlamp cleaning system spray nozzles are actuated.
If spray nozzles are blocked:

Clean spray nozzles using suitable needle and/or blow out with compressed air from inside out or replace spray nozzle subject to separate repair order.
 
5.3 Activate windshield washer system with low beams switched on, and check headlamp cleaning system spray nozzles for proper operation For model 242, 246 with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system
If spray nozzles are blocked:

Clean spray nozzles using suitable needle and/or blow out with compressed air from inside out or replace spray nozzle subject to separate repair order.
 
6 Check headlamp cleaning system spray nozzle setting With code (600) Headlamp cleaning system or code (614) Bi-xenon headlamps
IMPORTANT The spray jet must impact in the light source area on the headlamp lens. Correct setting, if necessary.

7 Switch off ignition and low beams    
8 Correct the fluid level in the windshield washer system reservoir   AP82.35-P-8210AK
