Telematics CAN (CAN A) (with CODE 864 (Rear Entertainment System))
The TV digital tuner is a telematics CAN subscriber and it communicates with the following control units:
- Left rear display (A40/5)
- Right rear display (A40/6)
- DVD player (A40/4)
MOST
The digital TV tuner is a participant of the MOST, via which it communicates with the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
Demodulating and decoding signals
The TV signals that are received via the antenna amplifier are evaluated internally and separated into video and audio signals.

Direct line
- Supply voltage to the following antenna amplifiers:
- FM 2, DAB and TV 1 antenna amplifier

- Video signals via Y/C lines to COMAND controller unit
- Video signals over Y/C lines to the DVD player (with CODE 864 (Rear entertainment system))
- Audio signals over low frequency (LF) lines to the DVD player (with CODE 864 (Rear entertainment system))
Telematics (with CODE 864 (Rear entertainment system))
The TV digital tuner is a telematics CAN subscriber and it communicates with the following control units:
- Left rear display (with CODE 864 (Rear Entertainment System))
- Right rear display (with CODE 864 (Rear Entertainment System))
- DVD player
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
The TV digital tuner is a subscriber of the MOST, via which it communicates with the COMAND controller unit. The audio signals are transmitted to the COMAND controller unit or the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with CODE 810 (Sound system) or CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)).
Body
With CODE 498 (Japan version) the digital TV tuner is delivered with a "B-CAS card". The "B-CAS card" is designed as a subscriber identification module (SIM) card and inserted in the SIM card reader. The SIM card reader does not have a cover.
