	Removing
	Risk of injury  caused by pinching or crushing  when working on springs or spring bodies that are under tension	Use only approved tensioning devices; shield off hazard area if necessary. Inspect special tools for damage and proper operation (visual inspection). Wear protective gloves.	AS00.00-Z-0001-01A

1	Remove suspension strut	Model 164	AR32.25-P-1017GZ
		Model 166	AR32.25-P-1017GQ
	Disassemble/assemble
2	Clamp tensioning device (10) in vise and insert clamping plates (8, 9)		Fig 2

3	Insert suspension strut into tensioning device (10)	When positioning the strut, attempt to get the maximum possible number of spring coils (7) in the spring clamp.
4	Clamp spring (7) until the upper spring retainer (3) is relieved of load
5	Remove cap (1)
6	Undo nut (2) and remove shock absorber (11)	Counterhold the piston rod using a wrench socket. Assembly:  Align upper spring retainer (3) before tightening the nut (2). Note the unequal gap between the threaded pins. The two threaded pins closest to each other must point in the direction of travel

7	Remove bellows (6) and stop damper (5)
8	Release tensioning device (10) and remove spring (7) with upper spring cup (3) and spring seat (4)	Model 166: There are spacer rings between the upper spring cup (3) and spring seat (4). When replacing the springs (7), the overall thickness of the spacer rings must be adjusted, see: ↓
		Remove/install front spring.	AR32.20-P-0200GQ
	Checking
9	Check shock absorber (11)		AR32.25-P-0121A
10	Check boot (6), stop damper (5) and spring seat (4)	Check for signs of wear, damage and oil fouling and replace if necessary.
11	Assemble in the reverse order
	Install
12	Install suspension strut	Model 164	AR32.25-P-1017GZ
		Model 166	AR32.25-P-1017GQ
13	Inspect headlamp adjustment, correct if necessary.		AP82.10-P-8260GZ
