Remove/install electronic stability program (ESP) hydraulic unit - AR42.45-P-0817GW

MODEL 463 as of model year 2013/model refinement package 2012

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work Before starting engine, actuate brake pedal several times until the pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A

1 Detach ground line from battery   AR54.10-P-0003GW
NOTES Notes on battery   AH54.10-P-0001-01A
2 Open engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000GG
3 Suction off brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir    
CLEAN Clean     
4 Clean area surrounding electrical connection (1) and brake lines (2) NOTES Before opening the brake system the area around the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
Only use clean, lint free rags and cleaner free of mineral oil. Do not use any compressed-air for cleaning when the brake system is open.
 
Cleaner from package *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
5 Mark brake lines (2) to connections on hydraulic unit (A7/3)    
6 Detach brake lines (2) from hydraulic unit (A7/3) IMPORTANT Immediately seal connections using stop plugs to prevent larger quantities of brake fluid from escaping.
Collect escaping brake fluid using a suitable container.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Note markings.

7 Release and disconnect electrical connector (1)    
NOTES Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
8 Remove hydraulic unit (A7/3) from holder INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check all rubber grommets for damage and correct seating, replace if necessary.  
CLEAN Clean     
9 Remove any escaped brake fluid NOTES Rinse soiled parts immediately with water. Otherwise the paint will be damaged.  
10 Detach carrier from hydraulic unit (A7/3) When replacing the hydraulic unit (A7/3)  
11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Bleed brake system   AR42.10-P-0010GW 
INSPECT Checking     
13 Check brake system in area of hydraulic unit (A7/3) for leaks    
14 Read out and erase the fault memory using
Star Diagnosis
  AD00.00-P-2000-04A
15 Perform calibration on Electronic Stability Program control unit using STAR DIAGNOSIS
