Location

The Audio/COMAND display is integrated at the top center in the instrument panel.

Task

The Audio/COMAND display shows all map, control and information data as well as, depending on the equipment involved, video, TV and Internet signals (as of 1.7.11). The Audio/COMAND display performs the following tasks for this purpose:

Reading in of signals
Evaluation of input factors

Reading in of signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Telematics CAN (CAN A)
Low voltage differential signal (LVDS) interface

Telematics CAN

The Audio/COMAND display receives control signals (e.g. brightness, on or off display) over the telematics CAN.

LVDS interface

The Audio/COMAND display receives all the information required to display the graphical content from the audio equipment over the LVDS interface.

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the color screen is then actuated internally.

"High" variant (with CODE 512 (COMAND APS incl. DVD changer), with CODE 526 (COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation)), with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) or with CODE 528 (COMAND incl. DVD changer)):
