Task
The audio system can be operated with the Audio/COMAND control panel. Operation is carried out with:
- Audio/COMAND controller, to navigate within the menus, select menu items and confirm entries
- "Back" button e.g. to jump back a level within a menu
- "Delete" button, to delete individual characters or complete entries
The Audio/COMAND control panel performs the following individual tasks:
- Operating unit for entertainment and communication systems integrated into vehicle
- Read in input signals
- Actuation of system components

- Music Register (with CODE 512 (COMAND APS incl. DVD changer) or CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)))
- Bluetooth® Audio (as of 1.6.10) and memory card (with CODE 512 (COMAND APS incl. DVD changer, CODE (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation), CODE (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation) or CODE (528) COMAND incl. DVD changer))
- AUX electrical connection (X39/45) (without CODE 518 (Media Interface), up to 28.2.13) or Media Interface electrical connection (X18/70) (with CODE 518 (Media Interface))
- USB electrical connection (X115) (as of 1.7.11 until 31.8.14 with CODE 512 (COMAND APS incl. DVD changer, CODE (526) COMAND with single DVD drive (without navigation), CODE (527) COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) or CODE 528 (COMAND incl. The Audio/COMAND control panel sends control data to the components of the telematics CAN (CAN A).
The buttons are designed as push/push buttons.
The following individual operations are possible with the Audio/COMAND control panel:
- Press: Down vertically
- Turn: To left or right
- Tilt: To four quadrants as well as diagonally
