General

The sensor system for trunk lid opening/closing enables the trunk lid to be opened or closed without actually touching it. To this end, sensors which register foot movements are located under the bumper; these movements are then forwarded via the rear switching module to the KEYLESS-GO control unit.

When working in the area of the trunk it should be noted that unintended trunk lid opening or closing may occur, if the transmitter key is in the vicinity of the vehicle. This can also apply to work conducted on vehicle lifts, as well as pits, triggered by people located below the vehicle.

Measures for activities

Before starting any work in the rear area, make sure that the transmitter key is outside the range of the KEYLESS-GO.
