Location 

The SDAR control unit is located in the left rear trunk.

Task 

The SDAR control unit has the following tasks:

• Reading in of signals 
• Amplifying and decoding signals 
• Transmitting signals 

Reading in of signals 

Signals are read in via the following connection:

• Direct line 

Direct line 

The following signals are read in with direct lines:

• Electronic Wake-up for

  Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)

• Signals for S-band satellite and S-band terrestrial, with the incorporated traffic information signals as well as weather-band signals from the SDAR antenna (A2/82) (model 216) or from the telephone and GPS roof antenna (A2/49) (model 221)

Amplifying and decoding signals 

The SDAR control unit decodes and amplifies the S band satellite and S band terrestrial signals read in.

Transmitting signals 

The signals are sent via the following connections:

• Direct line 
• MOST 

Direct line 

The following signal is sent via a direct line:

• Phantom power supply for SDAR antenna (model 216) or telephone and GPS roof antenna (model 221)

MOST 

The following signals are sent via MOST:

• Satellite digital audio radio (satellite radio) (SDAR) status
• Signals and program-specific supplemental information (e.g. artist, track) as well as music category (ROCK, NEWS and suchlike) to the audio tuner control unit (N93/1)
