Remove/install power steering pump - AR46.30-P-0500SXH

MODEL 221, 216 with electrohydraulic power steering (EHPS)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
    NOTES Before opening the hydraulic system the area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.

1 Disconnect battery ground cable   AR54.10-P-0003SX

2 Open engine hood    
3 Extract oil from power steering expansion reservoir SPECIAL TOOL *210589007100
4 Detach right front wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels   AP40.10-P-4050SX
5 Remove the front and central sections of the lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105SX
6 Remove front section of right wheelhouse trim in front fender    
7 Remove bolts (1, 2), unfasten bolt (3) and turn electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) outwards TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1014-01F 
8 Detach electrical connectors (7) and set aside    
9 Detach pressure line D1 (6), to do so remove screw (5) and seal connections TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1016-01F

10 Detach feed line Z1 (9) from electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) and seal connections See Remove/install hydraulic line for power steering. AR46.25-P-3015SXH 
SPECIAL TOOL *129589009100
11 Detach electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) from holder (4), to do so remove nuts (8) IMPORTANT Check fasteners and replace if necessary.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1015-01F 
12 Install in the reverse order    
13 Fill power steering pump and bleed   AR46.30-P-0010SX 
14 Read out fault memory using Star Diagnosis, delete if necessary and check electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) for current flashware    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
15 Teach-in electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) using Star Diagnosis When replacing electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1)  
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

16 Test run engine and check that steering system is not leaking and is functioning correctly
