Remove/install radiator - AR20.20-P-3865SZ

ENGINE 275 (except 275.982) in MODEL 216, 221

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
1 Remove engine trim panel Engine 275.95 AR01.10-P-2405LA
Engine 275.98 AR01.10-P-2405IM
2 Remove engine intake air duct    
3 Remove expansion clip (5) from radiator (2)    
4 Remove radiator grille from bumper Model 216
IMPORTANTInstallation:  First install radiator paneling in bumper.
 
5 Remove bottom air ducting (9)    
6 Dismount radiator crossmember (11) See Completely replace front end with reinforcement.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  For vehicles with code 219
Distronic (DTR) or code 233 Distronic Plus : ↓
AR62.30-P-1570SX
Check / adjust sensor setting of Distronic. AR30.30-P-1000R
7 Remove fan shroud IMPORTANT Take out fan shroud upwards. AR20.40-P-6800SZ 
8 Hook guard plate onto radiator (2)    
REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS Guard plate for radiator / condenser WF58.50-P-0110-01A
9 Remove front section of lower engine compartment paneling Vehicles without top protection AR61.20-P-1105SX
Vehicles with code Z07 Top protection AR61.20-P-1105SXS
10 Drain coolant at radiator (2)   AR20.00-P-1142H 
11 Undo clip (10) on oil lines (12)    
12 Unclip condenser (8) using needle nose pliers (01) on left and right from radiator (2)    
13 Remove front section of fender liner in right front fender    
14 Remove air ductings (6)    
15 Remove oil lines (1) on radiator (2) NOTES Close off connections using stop plugs to avoid ingress of contaminants.

16 Remove coolant hoses (3a, 3b) on radiator (2) See Open and close Henn coupling. AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
17 Remove coolant hose (3c) on radiator (2) SPECIAL TOOL *003589033700
18 Detach oil cooler and secure with cable tie Model 221.176, 216.376 AR18.30-P-1000SZ
19 Remove bolts (7a) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA62.30-P-1001-04B 
20 Take off coolant hose (3d) at radiator (2)   AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
21 Unscrew bolt (4)    
22 Unscrew bolts (7b, 7c) and take off radiator support (7) downwards INSPECTInstallation:  Check correct seating of rubber mount (2a) in radiator (2) and radiator support (7).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA62.30-P-1001-04B 
23 Unclip low-temperature cooler from radiator (2)   AR09.41-P-6935SZ
24 Unhook condenser (8) below out of radiator (2)    
25 Take out radiator (2) in an upward direction    
26 Install in the reverse order    
27 Check oil level in automatic transmission, correct if necessary   AR27.00-P-0100AC
28 Adjust engine hood   AR88.40-P-3020SX
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

29 Perform engine test run and check connections for oil lines (1) for leaks
