Install and weld in B-pillar with side longitudinal member - AR63.20-P-0550-03SC
- Fit B-pillar with longitudinal member with
inspection and welding devices and fasten with clamping pliers.
Observe setup plans.
- Drill rivet holes with BTR-Usibor drill bit with Ø 6.7 mm (area R).
Remove inspection and welding devices and B-pillar with longitudinal member, deburr rivet holes on both sides.
- Remove drill shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner
Dimensions:
- Fit reinforcement (2) positively and fix in place with clamping pliers.
- Reinforcement (2)
(areas H and M).
- Clean welds using round wire brush.
- Paint welds with zinc dust paint.Fig 3: Identifying MB Body Sealant Applying Area On B-Pillar Replacement Part With Longitudinal Member

Thoroughly clean all bonding surfaces and do not coat with zinc dust paint, otherwise adhesion of the 2-component adhesive may be adversely affected.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications of 2-component adhesive for drying and processing time.
- Apply MB body sealant to foam parts on B-pillar replacement part with longitudinal member.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to mating surfaces on crosshatched areas.
- Fit B-pillar with longitudinal member (1) with
inspection and welding device and fix in place with clamping pliers and manual temporary fasteners.
- B-pillar with longitudinal member (1)
(areas B, C, C1 , C2 , D, E and O).
- B-pillar with longitudinal member (1)
(area A).
- Grind inert gas weld on B-pillar to longitudinal member (1) down flat on panel mating surfaces (area A).
- Clean welds with round wire brush (area A).
- Coat inner welds with zinc dust paint.
- Rivet inner longitudinal member with steel/steel Ø 6.5 X12.5 blind rivet (area R).
- Rivet B-pillar reinforcement (4) and B-pillar (1) with steel/steel Ø 6.5 X1 2.5 blind rivet (area Q1 ).
- Install panel (3) with rear fender and fasten with clamping pliers.
- Drill Ø 6.7 rivet holes with BTR-Usibor drill bit (area N).
- Remove panel (3) and rear fender and deburr rivet holes on both sides (area N).
- Apply 2-component adhesive to mating surfaces on crosshatched areas.
Leave gap in 2-component adhesive in transition area to rear fender to ensure correct weld joint to rear fender.
- Install panel (3) and fix in place with clamping pliers and manual temporary fasteners.
- Panel (3)
(area R).
To ensure the minimum strength of the welds the new spot welds must be located in exactly the same position as the previous spot welds, because these areas were glued at the factory (area R).
- Rivet panel (3) with Polygrip flat/round head rivet, dia. 6.4 x14 (area N).
- Panel (3)
(area P).
Weld in intervals, allow to cool down in between to minimize heat distortion (area P).
- Grind inert gas weld down flat on panel (3) (area P).
- Clean welds using round wire brush.
- Install rear fender, see work instructions.
- Restore surface on panel (3) and smooth (area P).
- Remove grinding and drill shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
