Prepare upper front longitudinal member - AR62.20-P-1286-02SX

REPAIR MATERIALS

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left component for model 221 and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Grind mating surfaces on upper front longitudinal member (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas with COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS round wire brush.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  2. Using zinc dust paint, coat insides of spot weld flanges that were not additionally bonded.

    IMPORTANT Do not apply zinc dust paint to surfaces to be bonded (areas A, B and C).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  3. Expose spot welds on inner front longitudinal member (2) (area D).
  4. Cut out spot welds on inner front longitudinal member (2) with SPECIAL TOOL spot weld milling cutter or COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Vario Drill spot weld removing tool (area D).
  5. Grind mating surfaces on upper front longitudinal member (2) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas with COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS round wire brush.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  6. Using zinc dust paint, coat insides of spot weld flanges that were not additionally bonded.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

    IMPORTANT Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas E, F and G).

  7. Drill holes in side reinforcement (4) with dia. 7 mm bit (area H).
  8. Grind cross-hatched areas down to bare metal around holes with COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS round wire brush.
  9. Grind connection surfaces on side reinforcement (4) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas with COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS round wire brush.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

  11. Grind mating surfaces on suspension strut console bottom reinforcement (5) and suspension strut console top reinforcement (6) down to bare metal in cross-hatched area with COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS round wire brush.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  12. Using zinc dust paint, coat insides of spot weld flanges that were not additionally bonded.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

    IMPORTANT Do not coat surfaces to be bonded with zinc dust paint (area I).
