Location

The roof system drive unit is located below the left headliner on the front roof frame.

Task

Drive for tilting/sliding roof (SR).

Design

The roof system drive unit includes the following components:

Roof motor (M12m1)
Roof system Hall sensor 1 (M12b1)
Roof system Hall sensor 2 (M12b2)
Transfer case
Temperature protection switch

Function

The direction of rotation of the roof system motor is determined by the polarity of the actuating voltage from the overhead control panel control unit (N70)

The Hall sensors deliver signals to the overhead control panel control unit for position measurement and lock-up recognition. Moreover, the thermal protection switch protects against overload.
