	Disconnect, connect
	Risk of explosion  from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury  through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.	AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

1	Switch off all electrical consumers and the ignition	All electrical consumers must be switched off. They may otherwise be damaged when the ground line (3) is disconnected/connected.

2.2	Lift luggage compartment floor covering	MODEL 204.0 with ENGINE 156, 642, 646 MODEL 204.3 with ENGINE 156
2.3	Remove rear load compartment floor and intermediate bottom	MODEL 204.2 with ENGINE 156, 642, 646

3	Loosen nut (2) and remove ground line (3) from negative terminal of on-board electrical system battery (G1)	Nut, battery cable to on-board electrical system battery negative terminal/positive terminal	*BA54.10-P-1006-01F
4	Using a diode test lamp, check the electrical system for voltage between the positive line of the on-board electrical system battery (G1) and the disconnected ground line (3)	MODEL 204 with CODE B03 (ECO start/stop function) Cover positive lines. Risk of short circuit! If the diode test lamp lights up, the on-board electrical system is still active because of a defect in the electrical system. ↓ Detach ground line from additional battery for ECO start/stop function (G113)
