Location 

The supplemental restraint system control unit is located on the center tunnel.

Task 

The supplemental restraint system control unit has the following tasks:

IMPORTANT On model 204.9 with code (494) USA version, an accident data recorder is integrated in the supplemental restraint system control unit. This works in principle like the "black box" known from aviation. The data stored can be used to trace back the course of the accident.

Reading in of sensors and signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line 

The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:

Chassis CAN 

The following signal is read in via chassis CAN on model 204.0 up to 28.2.11, model 204.9 up to 31.5.11, model 204.3 with code (U10) Front passenger seat with weight detection:

Seat occupancy LIN (on model 204.0/2 as of 1.3.11, model 204.9 as of 1.6.11) 

The signals from the following components are read in via seat occupancy LIN:

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
