The ME-SFI [ME] control unit it located in the middle on the variable intake manifold.

Task

The ME-SFI [ME] control unit controls the engine control "ME 9.7" according to input signals.

The abbreviated designation "ME 9.7" means:

= otronic

= lectronic accelerator pedal

9.7  = Version 9.7

Design

The housing of the ME-SFI [ME] control unit is manufactured from aluminum and is watertight.

The housing contains measuring and control electronics for the engine control. Cooling fins on the upper side provide the necessary rejection of heat.

Vibrations are suppressed by rubber brackets.

Functions

The following systems are controlled and coordinated by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit:

The ME-SFI [ME] control unit exchanges data for this purpose via the attached drive train CAN (CAN-C) and chassis CAN (CAN-E). The ME-SFI [ME] control unit also serves as an interface (gateway) between both CAN bus systems.

Control unit programming (flashing)

The engine control in the ME-SFI [ME] control unit is flashable, which means that the complete software for the ME-SFI [ME] control unit can be replaced (flashed). The software required to program the control units is provided on the DAS Update DVD.

Variant coding

The following vehicle versions and equipment can be coded using variant coding with the DAS:

Diagnosis

For diagnostic purposes individual functions can be actuated in a targeted way using the DAS.

Furthermore correction programming of individual performance maps is possible with the DAS.
